Andrew Peachey serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education in the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services at Kennesaw State University. He also directs the B.S. in Integrated Health Science program. Peachey earned his DrPH in Community Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds a B.S. in Biology and Geology from Guilford College. Prior to his appointment at KSU in 2024, he was a faculty member in the Department of Health Sciences at James Madison University from 2011 to 2024, where he advanced to Professor and acted as Academic Unit Head.
Peachey's research specializations include health promotion, influences of the built environment on physical activity among college students, bullying prevention and emotional intelligence in elementary school children, pedagogical approaches to undergraduate research methods in health sciences, and global health topics such as malaria knowledge in rural Uganda and mHealth applications for stroke screening. Key publications encompass 'Perceived built environment characteristics of on-campus and off-campus neighborhoods associated with physical activity of college students' (Journal of American College Health, 2015), 'Trait emotional intelligence related to bullying in elementary school children and to victimization in boys' (OTJR: Occupation, Participation and Health, 2017), 'Knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding malaria in rural Uganda: a cross-sectional study' (2025), 'Assessing the Effects of a Study Abroad Program on Intercultural Awareness, Professional and Personal Perceptions, and Application of Discipline-Specific Knowledge' (Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad, 2025), 'mHealth-Enabled Stroke Screening for Pediatric Sickle Cell Disease' (JMIR Pediatrics and Parenting, 2026), and 'Applying Systems Thinking to Advance Nutrition and Health Equity in the Charitable Food System: Case Examples From Virginia' (Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, 2026). He leads study abroad programs in Uganda that develop students' intercultural competencies and discipline-specific applications in public health contexts.
