Anne Braund serves as Head of Services in the School of Access Education at Central Queensland University (CQUniversity), leading the Academic Learning Centre's programs across campuses and managing the development and delivery of micro-credential courses within the School. She earned a Bachelor of Education from the University of Queensland, a Master of Education from Queensland University of Technology, a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary and Adult Education from CQUniversity, and is currently pursuing a PhD in the School of Education and the Arts, supervised by Doctor Joanne Dargusch and Doctor Jenny McDougall. Her doctoral research, titled "Investigating the Internal and External Factors that Support Students from Equity Groups to Build a Positive Student Profile and Experience Success at University," explores the Grit-ability model and equity students' experiences in higher education. Braund's research specializations encompass English and literacy curriculum and pedagogy for international students from non-English speaking backgrounds, vocational education and training pedagogy focusing on grit characteristics that enable success in higher education, and social innovation practices in enabling education.
Braund commenced her academic career at CQUniversity's Bundaberg campus from 2000 to 2009. Subsequently, she relocated to Hong Kong, where she collaborated with the English Schools Foundation and the Chinese University of Hong Kong to design and deliver English language programs for students from non-English speaking backgrounds until 2016. Upon returning to CQUniversity, she contributed to curriculum development and coordinated academic communication support for students from preparatory programs to research higher degree candidates. She has also worked at Griffith University. Her accolades include the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Exemplary Practice in Learning and Teaching and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Notable publications include "Grit-ability: Which Grit Characteristics Enable Success for Mothers Entering University?" (2020), "Survival narratives from single mothers in an enabling program: ‘Just hope you don’t get sick and live off caffeine’" (2022), "Social innovation in action: Equity and empowerment through enabling education" (2024), and her doctoral work "Factors Influencing Promotion in Education: The Perceptions of Five Female Heads' of Department in Education Queensland" (2023). Braund co-leads the Online Learning Special Interest Group of the National Association of Enabling Educators Australia (NAEEA) and is a member of the Association for Academic Language and Learning (AALL) and the College of Teachers (Queensland).
