Dr. Anne Peachey is a Lecturer in the Murdoch Business School at Murdoch University, where she has been an academic and researcher since 1997. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Business Law from Curtin University and a Doctor of Philosophy from Murdoch University in 2019, with her thesis titled 'Advocacy and dissent: Can the not-for-profit organisation afford to have them?', supervised by Dr. Megan Paull. Peachey teaches Accounting, Business Law, Business Governance, and Management, and coordinates undergraduate majors in Marketing, Professional Accounting, Human Resource Management (Leading the Future of Work), and Hospitality and Tourism Management. She has served as Academic Chair for Business in combined degree programs. In 2021, she shared the Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching with Dr. Ana Rita Sequeira. Additionally, she holds board positions with the Australian and New Zealand Third Sector Review (ANZTSR), a network advancing research in the not-for-profit sector, and was appointed to Western Australia's Legal Costs Committee in 2025.
Her research focuses on governance, volunteering, homelessness, corporate social responsibility, not-for-profit business and management, advocacy, and corporate governance. She collaborates with researchers from universities across Australia on projects such as 'Managing Volunteers in Dementia Care' (2025 final report funded by Volunteering WA) and studies on informal volunteering. Peachey has supervised doctoral theses including 'I can do this: Leader development of formal volunteers' (2023), 'Understanding factors affecting the teaching of teamwork' (2022), and 'Industrial action in Western Australia's public sector essential services' (2022 Masters), as well as her own contributions to the field. Key publications include 'Nonprofit Advocacy Tactics: Thinking Inside The Box?' (2017), 'Collegiality, collaboration and communication: Innovation in a first year Business Unit development. A Practice Report' (2016), 'Senior Management Perceptions of CSR Impact: Long-term Investment for Social Good or Necessary Cost?' (2018 book chapter), 'Funding sources and performance management systems in non-profit organisations: the case of an Australian faith-based organisation' (2021, co-authored), and 'Building a community of scholars: Positive relationships in a holding environment' (2012 conference paper). Her work has garnered over 30 citations.
