Antonio García García is a tenured associate professor (profesor titular) of Civil Law in the Department of Basic Legal Disciplines at the Universidad de La Laguna (ULL). He obtained his PhD in Law from ULL in 2005 with the thesis 'Reserva de ley y derecho civil: las funciones de las normas reglamentarias en el derecho civil,' supervised by Dr. Pedro de Pablo Contreras. For over 30 years, he has taught Civil Law in the Licenciatura en Derecho, Grado en Derecho, and various postgraduate and master's programs at ULL. His academic career includes recognition for two six-year research periods (sexenios de investigación).
García García's research focuses on the intersections between civil and administrative law, particularly urbanism and property registration, as well as patrimonial law covering obligations, contracts, real rights, and succession. He has co-led two national research projects as principal investigator with Prof. María Elena Sánchez Jordán, addressing Property Registry challenges and technologies like data protection and blockchain; the latest project remains ongoing. Key publications include monographs 'Régimen jurídico civil de los criptoactivos' (Colex, 2022), 'El valor de los bienes inmuebles objeto de garantía hipotecaria' (Atelier, 2022), 'Destino y uso de los bienes inmuebles' (Aranzadi, 2019), and 'Reserva de Ley y derecho civil' (Tecnos, 2005). Notable articles are 'La cesión de viviendas con fines turísticos: concepto, naturaleza y delimitación frente a figuras afines' (2018) and 'La responsabilidad de los herederos antes y después de la partición' (2015). Administratively, he has served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Vice-Secretary General, and member of the Docentia evaluation committee. He currently holds the position of Secretary General at ULL.
