Rate My Professor Antti Karkman

Antti Karkman serves as University Lecturer in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Helsinki. He also holds the title of Docent in the same department and acts as a supervisor in the Doctoral Programme in Food Chain and Health as well as the Doctoral Programme in Microbiology and Biotechnology. Karkman maintains affiliations with the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science. His research centers on microbiology and virology along with ecology and evolutionary biology, with documented work in areas such as antibiotic resistance in human impacted environments.

Karkman has contributed to multiple research projects including those examining antibiotic resistance genes in wastewater and the environment. He has served as project manager for initiatives such as the Nordic consortium on the role of biocides and STAR-DUST on wastewater treatment and the antibiotic resistome.
