Dr. Barry Bardsley is an Associate Professor and Head of Healthcare Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences at Swansea University, where he joined in 2007. A qualified audiologist with over 20 years of professional experience, he serves as Programme Director for the BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) course and leads the Audiology service in the Health and Wellbeing Academy, which offers clinical and research opportunities. Bardsley holds an honorary contract as a Clinical Academic with Cwm Taff Morgannwg Health Board and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He oversees nine full-time degree programmes across various Healthcare Science disciplines and provides postgraduate supervision. He completed his PhD at Cardiff University in 2019, focusing on the use of spatial cues by hearing-impaired listeners in complex listening environments.
Bardsley's research specializations encompass binaural hearing, hearing aids, vestibular assessment and management, and spatial hearing. (2011, with Corless). These works address auditory processes, hearing aid performance, speech intelligibility in noise, occupational hearing risks, and vestibular rehabilitation, demonstrating his influence in advancing audiological science and clinical practice.
