Rate My Professor Barry Link

Barry Link is an instructor and chair of the Department of Journalism at Langara College. He graduated from Langara’s journalism program in the early 1990s. Following graduation, he began a newspaper career that included positions at the Medicine Hat News, the Richmond News, the Vancouver Courier, The Tyee, and various community newspapers throughout the Lower Mainland.

As a reporter, columnist, and editor, Link has covered topics including arts, education, culture, technology, and municipal, provincial, and federal politics. His reporting has addressed subjects ranging from Cantopop and school board technology deals to political nomination processes and the final roundup of wild horses in Western Canada. He was an early proponent of journalism on emerging online platforms, including the web, social media, video, and podcasting. Link has collaborated with hundreds of writers and freelancers and has mentored numerous young journalists currently active in the field. He continues to work as a freelance writer and editor while serving in his academic role at Langara College.
