About Barry

Barry Valentine serves as Assistant Professor and Full-Time Faculty in the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (ACR) Technology program at Palomar College, within the Trade and Industry Department. He is located at the Escondido Education Center at 1951 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido, CA 92027, with office ESC-504B, extension 8335, and phone (760) 744-1150. As the primary contact for the ACR program, Barry Valentine provides information on program offerings, including certificates of achievement, proficiency, and A.S. degree majors. The program emphasizes hands-on learning in mechanical, electrical, and heating aspects of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems, preparing students for industry careers and EPA 608 Certification.

Barry Valentine chairs the Palomar College ACR Technology Advisory Committee, as documented in meeting minutes from March 2021, May 2022, and other sessions, where he leads discussions on program design, student outcomes, and industry alignment. He has been instrumental in curriculum development, authoring course changes approved by the Curriculum Committee for Fall 2021, including ACR 102 – Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration: Electrical (3 Units), ACR 103, and ACR 105 – Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration: Heating Beginning. Additionally, as instructor, he contributed to setting up new ATECH Trainers in the state-of-the-art commercial and residential heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration lab at the Escondido Center, as noted in the President's Office report. The ACR program, launched in Fall 2019, achieved full lab enrollment under his guidance, offering courses like ACR 101 – Mechanical (3 Units) and advanced automation training. Barry Valentine maintains regular office hours for student support, such as Tuesdays 4-6 pm and 9:30-10:00 pm, Wednesdays 5-6 pm and 9:30 pm during Fall 2021, and serves as the contact for part-time faculty applications in AC, Refrigeration & Heating. His work supports the Trade and Industry Department's vocational education goals at Palomar College.
