Dr. Beatriz García Ortega serves as a PhD Assistant Professor and lecturer in the Department of Business Organisation at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), contributing to the field of Business & Economics. Her comprehensive academic background encompasses a PhD in Business Management and Administration from UPV (2017, Cum Laude), a Master’s degree in Toxicology and Risk Assessment from Universitat de València (2016), a Master in Business Management, Products and Services from UPV (2012), a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering with a specialty in Industrial Chemistry from UPV (2010), and an Honours Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Universitat de València (2000). Complementing her scholarly pursuits, she brings over 20 years of hands-on professional experience in management and administration within the industrial sector, including a longstanding role at a pharmaceutical company from 2001 to 2021, where she managed human resources, internal and external training, and quality assurance processes.
Beatriz García Ortega’s research specializations focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), sustainability and circular economy, the role of senior management in digitization and innovation processes, ethical dimensions of business, and models for analyzing strategic philanthropy in companies. Affiliated with the Laboratorio de Eco-innovación, Economía Circular y Simbiosis Industrial research group, she has authored key publications including "The part-time assistant professor in the Spanish university from an autoethnographic approach" (Working Papers on Operations Management, 2023), "Assessing the strategic levers in the discourse of best-performing CEOs: a three-dimensional model" (Corporate Communications: An International Journal, 2023), "Sufficient consumption as a missing link toward sustainability: The case of fast fashion" (Journal of Cleaner Production, 2023), "CSR and CEO’s Moral Reasoning in the Automotive Industry in the Era of COVID-19" (SAGE Open, 2022), and book chapters such as "How Spanish companies react in difficult times: a critical view" and "Automotive industry: sustainability vs obsolescence" (Business Meets Technology, 2020). Her contributions have earned the Best Paper award at the 9th INNODOCT International Conference on Innovation, Documentation and Teaching Technologies (2021) and the UPV Premio Docencia en Red 2021-22 for her MOOC course on public policies and accountability. She served as a visiting researcher in the Department of Fashion, Marketing, Tourism and Events at Glasgow Caledonian University from August 2022 to January 2023 and participates in projects such as "Supporting Innovation Competence Development In Online Education" (Erasmus+, 2022-2023) and "Evaluación participativa de servicios públicos digitales en el marco del Gobierno Abierto" (UPV PAID-06-22, 2023-2024). In teaching, she delivers courses on Organisational Behaviour and Change Management (since 2021), Enterprise Information Systems (since 2019), and Competitiveness and Innovation in Business (since 2018).
