Dr. Benjamin Warsaw is an Associate Professor of Piano in the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern University, where he teaches piano and music theory courses and serves as the Artistic Director of the Piano in the Arts concert series. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from Boston University in May 2011. As a dedicated classical pianist, composer, teacher, and accompanist, Warsaw has performed numerous solo and ensemble concerts throughout North America and Europe, contributing significantly to the performance and pedagogical landscape of piano music.
Warsaw's compositional work includes a cycle of 24 Preludes for solo piano, featured on his 2015 debut recording, 'Warsaw plays Warsaw.' This release highlights his creative output alongside his interpretive prowess in classical repertoire. His career also encompasses prior faculty positions, including at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Warsaw has participated in renowned summer programs such as the Wiener Masterclasses, Banff Centre Piano Masterclasses, Chautauqua Institution, Brandywine International Piano Festival, International Keyboard Festival at Mannes, and Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, where he performed solo, chamber music, and original compositions. In 2016, he was commissioned as a composer by the Georgia Music Teachers Association. His performances and educational efforts demonstrate a profound impact on piano performance, composition, and music education within academic and professional circles.
