Beth Chaney, Ph.D., MCHES®, FAAHE, serves as a Professor in the Department of Health Science at The University of Alabama, part of the College of Human Environmental Sciences. A two-time alumna of the university, she received her B.S. in Biology and M.A. in Health Studies from The University of Alabama before obtaining her Ph.D. in Health Education from Texas A&M University in August 2006. Her academic and research interests center on instrument development and the evaluation of health promotion programs within health education. Chaney's scholarly output is substantial, encompassing over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and more than 150 presentations at national, state, and regional conferences. She has secured research funding from organizations such as the U.S. Department of Education, Pro-Change Behavior Systems, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Cancer Society. In professional leadership, she has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Health Education, the Board of Trustees of the Society for Public Health Education, and the Board of Commissioners of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc., where she chaired the board in 2012 and served as Immediate Past Chair in 2013. She currently chairs NCHEC’s Marketing Committee. Her achievements include election as an AAHE Fellow, receipt of AAHE’s Horizon Award, and the Early Career Award from the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section. These accomplishments highlight her influence in advancing health education practices, credentialing, and professional development.
