Rate My Professor Bin Chen

Bin Chen is a tenured Associate Professor in the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering at Shenzhen University, where he also serves as Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Deep Underground Engineering Science and Green Energy Laboratory. He earned his bachelor's degree in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2014 and his doctoral degree in Energy Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2018. Prior to his current position, he held roles including Assistant Professor and Associate Researcher at Shenzhen University, postdoctoral researcher and senior research scholar at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and research assistant positions at Delft University of Technology and Nanyang Technological University.

Dr. Chen's research focuses on advanced energy materials and energy conversion devices, including fuel cells, electrolysers for hydrogen production, CO2 electrolysis for high-value conversion, and hydrogen fuel systems for drones. He has authored more than 80 papers in international SCI journals such as Nature, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Small, Energy & Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering Journal, Applied Energy, and Energy Conversion and Management, with an H-index of 31. He has led nine research projects funded by sources including the National Key Research and Development Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. His honors include the First Prize of the Academic Innovation Award from the China Energy Research Society and recognition as a Shenzhen Overseas High-Caliber Personnel (Peacock Plan Level C). He serves as Managing Editor of Energy Reviews and as a young editorial board member for EcoMat, Exploration, and Deep Underground Science and Engineering, in addition to other professional affiliations.
