Bin Dong is a professor at the Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research (BICMR) at Peking University. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University in 2003, his M.Sc. from the National University of Singapore in 2005, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2009. He served as a visiting assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego from 2009 to 2011 and as a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Arizona from 2011 to 2014 before joining Peking University as an associate professor in 2014. He was promoted to professor in 2023 and appointed Boya Distinguished Professor in 2024. He also serves as deputy director of the Center for Machine Learning Research at Peking University since 2022 and as executive vice president of Zhongguancun Academy since 2024.
His research focuses on computational imaging, scientific computing, and machine learning, with applications in biomedical imaging and AI for mathematics. He has received the Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Award in 2014, delivered a sectional lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2022, and was named a New Cornerstone Investigator and recipient of the Wang Xuan Outstanding Young Scholar Award in 2023. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Communications in Mathematical Sciences, SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, Journal of Machine Learning, Journal of Computational Mathematics, CSIAM Transactions on Applied Mathematics, and Inverse Problems and Imaging.
