Dr. Bradley McEwen is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, completed between 2008 and 2013, with research on omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids' effects on platelet function, coagulation, and fibrin generation in healthy subjects and those with cardiovascular disease. He also earned an MHlthSc in Nutrition from Deakin University in 2008 and a BHlthSc. Additional qualifications include ND (Adv), DBM, DNutr, DSM, and M.ATMS, supporting his roles as a naturopath, nutritionist, educator, researcher, and mentor with over 21 years of clinical experience. McEwen has lectured in nutritional medicine and the health sciences for over 16 years, previously serving as a Lecturer at Endeavour College of Natural Health from July 2012 to May 2018. His PhD studies were conducted at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research and Kolling Institute of Medical Research. He presents seminars and lectures at national and international conferences.
McEwen's research specializations include the effects of diet and nutrition on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cardiometabolic syndrome, depression, polycystic ovary syndrome, cognition, and chronic disease, with specific interests in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and public health. His skills encompass human nutrition, nutrition assessment, nutritional education, malnutrition, nutritional and metabolic diseases, metabolism, insulin resistance, and glucose metabolism.
