Brady Twedt served as Associate Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business from 2018 to 2023, where he was promoted to associate professor effective fall 2020 following the award of tenure and held the Miner Research Scholar position. He earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Texas A&M University's Mays Business School in August 2013, including a minor in Finance, and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting summa cum laude from Utah State University's Jon M. Huntsman School of Business in 2009. Prior to joining the University of Oregon as an assistant professor, Twedt was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business from June 2013 to 2018. Earlier in his career, he worked as an Accountant at Schreiber Foods Incorporated from 2007 to 2009.
Twedt specializes in empirical capital markets research, with academic interests in information intermediaries including the business press and financial analysts, as well as firms' voluntary and mandatory disclosures. His publications appear in leading journals such as The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Management Science, and Contemporary Accounting Research. Notable works include "Spreading the Word: Price Discovery and Newswire Dissemination of Management Earnings Guidance" (The Accounting Review, 2016), "The Media and Mispricing: The Role of the Business Press in the Pricing of Accounting Information" (The Accounting Review, 2014), "Analyst Forecast Bundling" with Michael Drake, Peter Joos, and Joseph Pacelli (Management Science, 2020), "Earnings Virality" with Brett Campbell, Michael Drake, and Jacob Thornock (Journal of Accounting and Economics, 2023), "Curbing Enthusiasm: Media Sentiment and the Disciplining Role of Quarterly Earnings Announcements" with Eric Holzman and Brian Miller (The Accounting Review, 2023), and "Common Media Holding Companies and the Uniqueness of Business Press Content" with Kenneth Merkley, Joseph Pacelli, and Flora Sun (The Accounting Review, 2025). He has received the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award at the University of Oregon for 2020-21, Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award in 2014, and AAA FARS Section Excellence in Reviewing Award in 2016, among multiple teaching awards. Twedt serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research and has presented at conferences including AAA Annual Meetings, European Accounting Association Annual Meeting, University of Oregon, University of Iowa, and Utah State University.
