Dr Bronwyn Raykos serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Curtin School of Population Health, Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. She is also a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Head of the Eating Disorders Program at the Centre for Clinical Interventions (CCI) within the Western Australia Health Department. Raykos obtained her Bachelor of Arts with Honours, Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Western Australia. Her professional experience includes the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based psychological treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Family-Based Therapy specifically for eating disorders. As part of the CCI research team, she contributes significantly to advancing clinical interventions in mental health.
Raykos specializes in eating disorders research, exploring areas including cognitive-behavioral therapy for eating disorders (CBT-ED), eating-specific interpersonal difficulties, shame, social anxiety, prevention and early intervention strategies, models of care, epidemiology, risk factors, screening, assessment, diagnosis, psychiatric comorbidities, telehealth integration during COVID-19, and clinician competence assessment. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, accumulating more than 1,780 citations. Key publications include "Rethinking Access to Evidence‐Based Treatments for Eating Disorders: A Commentary on Ali et al. 2024" (2024), "Psychoeducation in the Treatment of Eating Disorders" (2024), "Eating‐Specific Interpersonal Difficulties: Changes and Impacts on Outcomes During Ten‐Session Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT‐T)" (2024), "Opportunities lost? Rates and predictors of attrition in an eating disorders outpatient service" (2024), "Positive outcomes from integrating telehealth into routine clinical practice for eating disorders during COVID-19" (2021), and "Assessing clinician competence in the delivery of cognitive-behavioural therapy for eating disorders: development of the Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy Scale for Eating Disorders (CBTS-ED)" (2023). Her work has been presented at national and international conferences. Raykos is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders (ANZAED), where she received the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2021, and serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Eating Disorders. Additionally, she was awarded the Driving Innovation award at the North Metropolitan Health Service Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Awards in 2024 for her contributions to clinical innovation.
