Bryan Romsa is an Associate Professor of Sport and Recreation Management at South Dakota State University in the School of Health and Human Sciences. He serves as the Coordinator of the undergraduate Sport and Recreation Management program and the graduate Sport and Recreation Administration program. Dr. Romsa earned his Ed.D. and M.S. from Minnesota State University Mankato and his B.A. from Concordia College-Moorhead. Prior to his current role, he was an assistant professor at Minnesota State University Mankato. His teaching responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate courses in sport and recreation administration and sport and recreation marketing. Dr. Romsa chairs the Intercollegiate Athletic Board and serves on the College of Education and Human Sciences Tenure and Promotion Committee. He is a member of the North American Society for Sport Management.
Dr. Romsa's research interests focus on sport exit planning for NCAA student-athletes, factors influencing the college choice decisions of NCAA student-athletes, and recruitment and retention of NCAA student-athletes. His specializations include athletic administration, sport marketing, and sport facility management. He has received the Edward Patrick Hogan Award for Teaching Excellence, the SDSU College of EHS Outstanding Teaching Faculty Service Learning Award, the Sport, Entertainment and Venues Tomorrow Conference Best Research Paper Award, and the SDSU College of EHS Outstanding Early Career Faculty Teaching and Learning Award. Key publications include 'Undergraduate Sport Management Students' Perceptions of Leadership Skills Through Service Learning' (2017, Journal of Leadership Education), 'Preparing New Professionals in Student Affairs: A Supervisory Model to Maximize Graduate Student Success' (2016), 'The Impact of Perceived Value, Satisfaction, Service Quality on Customer Loyalty in Women’s Fitness Clubs' (2016, The Sport Journal), 'Evolution of Student-Faculty Interactions: What Matters to Millennial College Students?' (2017), and 'Analysis of Factors Influencing the College Choice Decisions of African American Student-Athletes' (2019). His work contributes to understanding student-athlete transitions and enhancing sport management education through practical applications and service learning.
