About Camilo

Camilo Andres Mena Silva serves as Senior Engineer and Laboratory Coordinator in the Department of Geoscience at the Faculty of Engineering of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He holds a PhD in Geometallurgy from NTNU, completed between 2015 and 2019, with his doctoral thesis focused on geometallurgical modelling of the Stjernøya nepheline syenite mine. Prior to this, he earned a degree in Georesources Engineering from Université de Liège as part of the EMerald Master programme between 2013 and 2015, following earlier training as a metallurgical engineer.

In his current role, Camilo Andres Mena Silva oversees operations in the mineral processing laboratory and contributes to research and educational activities in geometallurgy. His academic work includes a 2018 publication titled “Geometallurgical Approach to the Element-to-Mineral Conversion for the Nabbaren Nepheline Syenite Deposit,” co-authored with colleagues and appearing in the journal Minerals. He has also participated in outreach and presentations related to geometallurgy applications in mineral deposits. Camilo Andres Mena Silva maintains an active profile in laboratory coordination and technical support within the Faculty of Engineering at NTNU.
