Carole Trespaderne serves as Associate Professor in Education and Professional Practice within the College of Health and Society at Buckinghamshire New University. Her academic qualifications include qualifying as a general registered nurse (RGN) in 1991, a degree in social science in 1995, training as a health visitor, NMC Recorded Nurse Teacher status in 2006 from Thames Valley University, and an MA in Learning and Teaching in 2007 from the same university. She began her career working as a general registered nurse in the community in South West London until 1995, followed by roles as a health visitor and community practice teacher for Kingston Community Trust until 2002. She then spent nine years as a senior lecturer for public health and primary care courses at Thames Valley University and subsequently the University of West London.
Prior to joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2015, she worked as a community practice teacher for health visiting, supporting and assessing student health visitors. Since 2010, she has also served as a practice tutor for the Open University's pre-registration nursing programme. Her specialist area of interest is learning and teaching, which underpins educators' work in university and practice settings. Trespaderne holds registrations with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as RGN, Registered Health Visitor (RHV), recorded nurse prescriber, and nurse teacher, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is the Course Leader for the PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Full Time) and a member of the teaching teams for BSc (Hons) Public Health (Full Time), Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber (V150) Level 6 and Level 7 (Part Time), and PGDip Specialist Practitioner Qualification (District Nursing) (Full Time). A career highlight is her invitation to Koç University in Istanbul to share expertise on supporting and assessing nurses in practice settings.
