Casey Grev is the Professor of Saxophone at the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York College at Potsdam. He earned undergraduate degrees in music education and music performance from The Ohio State University, where he studied with saxophonist James Hill. Grev received both his master’s degree and doctoral degree from Michigan State University, studying with Joseph Lulloff and serving as a recipient of the University Distinguished Fellowship there.
Dr. Grev joined SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music as Visiting Assistant Professor of Saxophone during the 2016-17 academic year and has advanced to Professor of Saxophone. A dedicated performer of contemporary music, he performs regularly with the Viridian Saxophone Quartet and with the Local Service Initiative, a free jazz group based in Potsdam, New York. He has garnered recognition as a chamber musician through awards at the Coleman Competition, Fischoff Competition, Music Teachers National Association Competition, and North American Saxophone Alliance Chamber Music Competition. Dr. Grev has appeared as an invited performer at distinguished events including the Hot Air Music Festival, San Francisco Center for New Music, Resonant Bodies Festival, Society of Composers Inc. National Conference, Northwestern University New Music Conference, The Ohio State University Contemporary Music Festival, and Rochester Avant Garde a Clue Experimental Music Festival. He was selected to participate in the 2016 Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music.
