Dr Catherine Morgan is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Auckland and Senior Physicist at the Centre for Advanced MRI (CAMRI). She is a medical physicist with approximately eight years of post-doctoral experience in MRI research, including pulse sequence programming, protocol optimisation, image post-processing, and image analysis. Her expertise encompasses quantitative MRI techniques such as T1, T2 and multi-parametric mapping, fMRI methods, arterial spin labelling for brain perfusion, chemical exchange saturation transfer for oncology applications, and methods to measure iron deposition in the brain.
Dr Morgan leads the Neuroimaging Research Group at the University of Auckland. Her current research focuses on developing novel imaging methods to study mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease as part of nationwide studies including the Dementia Prevention Research Clinics. She has contributed to work on AI tools for dementia prediction and received a major fellowship award to advance research on predicting dementia.
