Dr. Celine Jona serves as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology within the School of Health at the University of the Sunshine Coast, having joined the institution in 2022. She earned her Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) from Deakin University, Master of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of the Sunshine Coast, and Bachelor of Science with Honours from Monash University. Prior to her academic appointment, Celine worked as a generally registered psychologist, completing the clinical registrar program, and gained experience in various public and private clinical settings. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a Clinical Psychology Registrar and holds memberships in the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association. In recognition of her teaching excellence, she has been awarded Associate Fellow status (AFHEA) by AdvanceHE.
Celine coordinates the courses PSY701 Advanced Psychological Assessment and Reporting and PSY402 Professional Practice of Psychology. She also supervises practicum placements for students in the Master of Psychology (Professional) program and contributes as a supervisor at the Psychology Clinic. Her research specializations encompass teaching methods in psychology training, mental health among health professionals, preventative health care, and positive psychology. Ongoing research avenues include objective measures for assessing clinical competencies, fostering reflection skills in psychology trainees, evaluating clinical skill development, investigating stress and burnout in health professionals, and exploring potential negative effects of gratitude practices. Key publications authored or co-authored by Celine include "The emotionally exhausted treating the mentally unwell? A systematic review of burnout and stress interventions for psychologists" published in 2024, "Self-Disclosure in a Self-Practice/Self-Reflection CBT Group in Professional Psychology Training" (2023), "Benefits and challenges of an online CBT group, utilizing self-practice/self-reflection paradigm for psychology trainees" (2023), and "A qualitative analysis of the usefulness, risks, and challenges of functionality-based imagery interventions" (2024).
