Professor Charles Inderjeeth serves as Clinical Dean at Curtin University and Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. He is a consultant physician in Rheumatology and Geriatric Medicine at the Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group, practicing in metropolitan and rural Western Australia. His academic background includes an MBChB, a Masters of Public Health from the University of Western Australia through the NHMRC-NICS program, and fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). As a clinical academic, he maintains strong education links across general practice, specialist care, and hospital settings, supervising PhD students and fellows in training.
Professor Inderjeeth's research specializations encompass clinical epidemiology in rheumatology, osteoporosis, vitamin D, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, frailty, sarcopenia, falls, dementia, and geriatric syndromes. He has led the development of innovative clinical services, including Orthogeriatric, Falls, Fracture and Balance, and Fragile Bone Services. His contributions extend to numerous advisory and executive roles with the Western Australian Department of Health, Arthritis Foundation of Western Australia, Osteoporosis Australia, Australian Rheumatology Association, Australian and New Zealand Society for Bone and Mineral Research, and Australia and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine. With over 3,400 citations, key publications include 'Association between daily maximum temperature and immediate-to-delayed gout flare hospitalisations: a population-level time series study in metropolitan Perth, Australia' (2026), 'Interstitial lung disease in systemic lupus erythematosus: a 30-year population study' (2026), 'Cancer Incidence and Outcome for Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Long-term Population Study in Western Australia' (2025), 'Self-management for osteoarthritis of the knee: Does mode of delivery influence outcome?' (2010), and 'The use of anabolic agents in the treatment of osteoporosis: a clinical update' (2024). Major awards include the NHMRC-NICS-DVA Fellowship (2007-2009) and Amgen-ANZBMS Outstanding Abstract Award (2022).
