As a General Practitioner and Obstetrician, her clinical training emphasized women's health services, general practice, obstetrics, and paediatrics.
In her academic role, Dr McIntyre's undergraduate teaching responsibilities cover General Practice and Obstetrics at the University of New England. She extends her contributions to postgraduate training of pre-vocational General Practice trainees and General Practice registrars. Additionally, she co-supervises Year 5 Joint Medical Program students in the University's Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) program, a 19-week apprenticeship model of experiential learning in the rural Inverell community. Under her guidance, students engage in comprehensive patient care journeys across general practice at Inverell Medical Centre, hospital settings including deliveries and theatre for caesareans, allied health services, rehabilitation, aged care, and community reintegration. Dr McIntyre holds examiner positions with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her professional affiliations encompass the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine, New England Division of General Practice, New England Medicare Local, and GP Synergy.
