Dr. Christian Duperouzel serves as a lecturer in the Curtin Law School at Curtin University, where he teaches units including BLAW1002 Markets and Legal Frameworks, as well as topics in business law, resilience, and wellbeing. His academic qualifications include a PhD from Curtin University completed in 2016, which examined the role of a lived calling in driving leadership behaviour and its interplay with consciousness; a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Notre Dame Australia; a Bachelor of Commerce in Sports Management and Commercial Law from Curtin University; and a Graduate Certificate in Business Research from Curtin University. Before entering academia, Duperouzel practiced as a lawyer in Fremantle, specializing in commercial litigation.
Duperouzel's research focuses on leadership, vocational studies, spirituality, philosophy, and human rights and responsibilities. He authored the book Calling New Leaders: How Living Your Calling will make you an Inspired Leader of the Modern World published by Central West Publishing in 2023, which draws on his doctoral research. Key publications include 'Pavers of the way: Enablers to a lived calling in an Australian context' in the International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance (2023), the three-part series 'Creating the conscious law firm'—comprising 'What traditional law firms can learn from the conscious capitalism movement (Part 1)', 'The fascinating cases of Marque Lawyers and Hive Legal (Part 2)', and 'A better way – how to build a framework for the conscious law firm (Part 3)'—in the Australasian Law Management Journal (2020), and 'Reaching Your Verdict: A Vocational Guide to Whether or Not to Study Law' in The Future of Australian Legal Education (2018). In recognition of his teaching excellence, he was a joint winner of Curtin University's Learning and Teaching Award with a Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. Additionally, he has presented workshops on mental health and resilience for Curtin Law School's Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and contributed to discussions on conscious leadership and culture through speaking engagements.
