CP Tham is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. His academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy from Curtin University obtained in 2017. Prior to joining academia, he served as a Financial Controller in multinational companies across Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, gaining over 15 years of professional experience in financial, risk, and strategic management. CP Tham holds fellowships from Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, CPA Australia, the Australian Institute of Management, and the Higher Education Academy (UK).
CP Tham's research interests encompass corporate governance, auditing, financial reporting, ESG and sustainability reporting, and artificial intelligence applications in accounting. He has authored numerous publications, including 'A global review of the literature on and proxies of busy boards and audit committees' (2024), 'ESG Performance and Corporate Governance—The Moderating Role of the Big Four Auditors' (2025), 'Carbon Reduction Initiatives, Corporate Governance and Sustainability Assurance—Do Multiple Directorships and Board Tenure Matter?' (2025), 'Accounting students’ perceived importance of faculty attributes: a cross-country cross-campus comparison between Malaysia and Australia' (2025), 'Audit quality, corporate governance, firm characteristics and CSR disclosures—Evidence from Indonesia' (2022), 'The role of directors with multiple board seats and earnings quality: A Singapore context' (2021), 'CEO age and analysts forecast properties' (2020), and 'Busy boards and earnings management – an Australian perspective' (2019). His work explores the impact of board characteristics on earnings quality, audit quality, and corporate social responsibility disclosures. CP Tham teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Financial Accounting, Auditing & Assurance, Computerised Accounting Packages, and Contemporary Business Issues, contributing significantly to accounting education and research in corporate governance and sustainability.
