About Craig

Professor Craig Mellis, Professor Emeritus at the University of Sydney's Sydney Medical School, is a distinguished paediatrician and respiratory physician renowned for his contributions to paediatric respiratory medicine and medical education. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1968, Master of Public Health in 1991, and Doctor of Medicine in 1996, all from the University of Sydney, and holds Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. His clinical and research expertise centers on conditions such as asthma and cystic fibrosis, alongside advancing evidence-based practices in paediatrics.

Mellis's illustrious career includes serving as Head of the Discipline of Medicine since July 2004, Associate Dean and Head of the Central Clinical School from June 1990 to June 2001, and Professor of Paediatrics at the Children's Hospital at Westmead Clinical School. As a leader in medical education, he has advanced approaches in peer-assisted learning, team-based learning, clinical feedback, interprofessional education, procedural skills teaching, and healthcare leadership training.
