I am a very independent worker and really enjoyed my time with Cristina as my workshop tutor for MATH1015. Though I never needed to ask for help, I always felt very supported in her workshops. She was encouraging of students to come in for however long they needed, even if only to grab the worksheet and solutions and leave, and she never seemed to mind the fluctuating attendance rates (I was once one of three students who attended a workshop one day). I never felt judged for leaving early, skipping a workshop, or doing other work in her workshop, which meant a lot to me as I was often swamped with work and highly stressed. The kindness she showed me really benefited my overall wellbeing and encouraged me to keep going. Thank you Cristina!
Very supportive and kind. Always attentive and non judgemental.

Creates a collaborative learning environment.
Cristina Popa is a lecturer at Curtin University, serving in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS). She teaches foundational mathematics courses for engineering students, including Linear Algebra 1 (MATH1015) and Linear Algebra and Statistics for Engineers (MATH1019), delivered at the Bentley Perth Campus. These courses introduce essential concepts in vector spaces, matrices, eigenvalues, linear transformations, and basic statistical methods relevant to engineering applications. Unit outlines from multiple semesters, such as 2017, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, list her as teaching staff, often covering the initial weeks of the semester (e.g., weeks 1-4). Her teaching activities are based in Building 314 on campus, with rooms varying between 346, 358, and 359A. Contact information provided in official unit outlines includes phone 08 9266 3485 and email cristina.popa@curtin.edu.au. Administrative support for her units is handled by EECMS Teaching Support.
Cristina Popa receives high praise from students, evidenced by her 4.78 out of 5 rating on AcademicJobs.com's Rate My Professor rankings for Curtin University, placing her among the top instructors. This recognition highlights her effectiveness in delivering complex mathematical concepts to undergraduate engineering cohorts.
