Dana Steidtmann, PhD, serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry-Adult Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. She holds additional roles as Senior Instructor, Associate Clinic Director, and Director of Clinical Quality at the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Depression Center within the Department of Psychiatry. As a licensed clinical psychologist, she delivers evidence-based psychotherapy, frequently employing cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, to adults and couples facing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, phobias, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and related conditions. Her care philosophy emphasizes fostering warm, compassionate, and collaborative patient relationships to address life's challenges.
Steidtmann earned her BA from the University of Wyoming in 2003 and PhD from the University of Kansas in 2010, where she participated in developing and evaluating a novel cognitive-behavioral therapy approach for depression. She completed her internship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System in 2009 and fellowships at Stanford University, including an NIH T32 Training Fellowship in 2012 and training through the Clinical Excellence Research Center in 2014. Her prior experience encompasses research at Stanford University on improving chronic depression treatments and health care affordability, specialized psychotherapy training at Stanford University Hospital, the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, and the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment, as well as co-founding Peninsula Behavioral Health in Palo Alto, California. Her research centers on innovative health system strategies to enhance the effectiveness, accessibility, and affordability of mental health treatments, with emphases on telemental health, hybrid work models, measurement-based care, and computer-assisted cognitive-behavioral therapy.
