About Daniel

Dr Daniel Doh is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Social Policy at the University of Western Australia (UWA), within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences' School of Health and Clinical Sciences. An accredited social worker and social policy analyst, he holds a PhD from Edith Cowan University awarded in 2017 for his thesis 'Towards active ageing: A comparative study of experiences of older Ghanaians in Australia and Ghana,' and an MPhil in Social Work from the University of Ghana awarded in 2010 on 'Social Protection for Older People in Ghana.' His career includes positions as Social Work Lecturer at the University of Western Sydney, Senior Research Officer at Silver Chain Group – Access Care Network Australia in Western Australia, Sessional Academic at Edith Cowan University's School of Arts and Humanities, and Assistant Research Fellow for eight years at the Centre for Social Policy Studies, University of Ghana, where he developed and coordinated the Master of Social Policy program and designed a PhD Social Policy program.

Doh's research focuses on ageing and health, long-term aged care, disability, informal care, child protection, and migration intersections. He applies expertise in mixed-method program evaluation, quantitative modelling, qualitative analysis, randomized control trials, and difference-in-difference designs. Collaborations with the Government of Ghana, UNICEF, HelpAge Ghana, Revenue Watch Institute-UK, and organizations in Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya have produced policy impacts in social protection for children and older people. He has delivered workshops for researchers and policy actors in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and Uganda via the Partnership for African Social and Governance. Key publications are 'Adverse childhood experiences and elder abuse victimization nexus: A systematic review and meta-analysis' (2025, PLoS One), 'Ageing together and the paradox of negotiating care transitions for informal disability carers in migrant multicultural communities' (2025, Community, Work & Family), 'A Review of Disability Protection in Nepal Through Social Allowance: Policies, Practices, and Paucity' (2025, Social Sciences), 'Children with intellectual disabilities: Impact on the well-being of primary caregivers' (2025, Journal of Social Policy, Social Change and Development), and 'Host Country Regulation of Short-Term Medical Missions: Evidence from Three Countries' (2025, Annals of Global Health).
