Daniel Eadens, Ed.D., is an associate professor of educational leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education at the University of Central Florida's College of Community Innovation and Education. He earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of South Florida's Tampa campus. Prior to UCF, he was assistant department chair, study abroad coordinator, and tenured associate professor of educational leadership at Northern Arizona University, assistant professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, and adjunct instructor at the University of South Florida and Saint Petersburg College. Earlier, Eadens taught elementary school music, middle school special education math and science, served as a behavior specialist, and was a school administrator at several Florida public schools. A retired Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel with over 25 years of service, including tours in Japan and combat deployment during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, he integrates practical experience into his teaching and research.
Eadens researches critical education issues including school safety, school finance, school boards, social justice, and access in schools. He co-edited Social Justice Instruction: Empowerment on the Chalkboard and published peer-reviewed works such as Handbook on Promoting Social Justice in Education (2020), Police Officer Perspectives on Intellectual Disability (2016), K-12 Teacher Perspectives on the Pandemic Pivot to Online Teaching and Learning (2022), Growing Evidence of the Value of School Board Training (2020), and Educational Leadership Preparation and Professional Roles: Are We Serving the Needs of Leadership Roles Along the Leadership Continuum? (2023). His honors include an Exemplary Performer Rating in the top 15% of Northern Arizona University College of Education faculty, Hampton E. Williams Research Award from the Arizona School Boards Association, Jack Mulcahy Award for Best Doctoral Dissertation from the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research and National Academy for Educational Research, Berbecker Fellowship and Doctoral Graduate Assistantship at USF, and Fulbright grant in Tsukuba, Japan. Eadens edits and reviews for several educational leadership journals.
