About Daniel

Daniel L. Gamache serves as the Terry Dean's Advisory Council Distinguished Professor and Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business. He has been on the faculty since 2015, advancing from Assistant Professor (2015–2020) to Associate Professor with tenure (2020–2025), and to his current full professorship in 2025. Gamache holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Michigan State University (2015), an MA in Leadership and Management from Briercrest College and Seminary (2000), and a BA in Economics from Brandon University (1996).

Gamache's research investigates the factors influencing CEOs' strategic decisions, situated within strategic leadership and corporate governance. His work explores executives' psychological attributes, the effects of executive compensation, and the impact of social evaluations like reputation and celebrity on decision-making. Primary strategic outcomes examined include mergers and acquisitions and stakeholder strategy. He has authored numerous publications in premier management journals. Key works include "Motivated to Acquire? The Impact of CEO Regulatory Focus on Firm Acquisitions" (Academy of Management Journal, 2015), "Impression Offsetting as an Early Warning Signal of Low CEO Confidence in Acquisitions" (Academy of Management Journal, 2019, with McNamara et al.), "Serving Differently: CEO Regulatory Focus and Firm Stakeholder Strategy" (Strategic Management Journal, 2020, with Neville et al.), "Shifting Perspectives: How Scrutiny Shapes the Relationship between CEO Gender and Acquisition Activity" (Strategic Management Journal, 2023, with Devers et al.), and "Organizational Hubris: Its Antecedents and Consequences for Stakeholder Relationships" (Strategic Management Journal, 2024, with Pfarrer and Curran). Gamache is a prolific reviewer and editor, serving on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review (since 2017), Academy of Management Journal (since 2019), Strategic Management Journal (since 2020), and Administrative Science Quarterly (since 2021). He has earned multiple Outstanding Reviewer Awards from these journals and the Strategic Management Society, the Terry College of Business Outstanding Teacher Award (2019), the Sage Publications/RMD Best Paper Award (2019), and recognition as an Institute for Leadership Advancement Research Scholar (2021–2023). His contributions extend to leadership roles in professional organizations, including Representative-at-Large for the Strategic Leadership & Governance Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society (2021–2022).
