Daniel Immel is a Professor of Music at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in the Visual and Performing Arts college. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Music from Boise State University, a Master of Music from Indiana University-Bloomington, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin earned in 2002. He also holds a Diploma from the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau, France. His primary teachers were Madeleine Forte, Luba Edlina-Dubinsky, and Gregory Allen. Dr. Immel teaches piano, class piano, introduction to music, and film music. He has served at Kutztown University for nearly 15 years and additionally works as an adjunct piano instructor in the Department of Music at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Immel's concert career features solo and collaborative piano performances throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Russia. Highlights include serving as solo recitalist at the Allen Forte International Piano Festival at Yale University, Guest Artist-in-Residence at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece for recitals and master classes, and a solo recital at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. He earned recognition as a finalist in the 16th annual Vienna International Music Competition and second prize in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition in New York. Notable collaborations encompass performances with the Cypress String Quartet and saxophonist Todd Oxford at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall—appearing on Oxford’s CD “Tango Magnetism”—the Case Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, the Kutztown University Wind Ensemble at the Kennedy Center, and Beethoven’s “Emperor” Piano Concerto with the Kutztown University Orchestra. Dr. Immel regularly presents lectures for the “Know Your Symphony” series in connection with the Reading Symphony Orchestra’s seasons.
