Rate My Professor Daniel Rueckert

Dr. Daniel Rueckert is an Associate Professor of TESOL and the TESOL Program Coordinator in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at California State University, Fullerton. He earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology from Indiana State University in 2008, focusing his dissertation on a qualitative study of the language learning experiences of adult ESL students. Rueckert joined California State University, Fullerton in August 2016. Prior to this appointment, he served as an assistant professor of TESOL at Oklahoma City University, where he developed community English teaching programs for MA TESOL students as part of service learning initiatives. His career emphasizes practical applications of language education in academic and community settings.

Rueckert's academic interests center on technology and second language learning, as well as service learning. He has published key works such as "Gamifying the Foreign Language Classroom for Brain-Friendly Learning" in Foreign Language Annals and "Students' Perceptions and Experiences of Mobile Learning" in Language Learning & Technology (2013, co-authored with Daesang Kim, Dong-Joong Kim, and Daeryong Seo). Additional contributions include explorations of mobile assisted language learning and chapters on related topics. Rueckert has served as associate editor for the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education. At California State University, Fullerton, he coordinates the MS TESOL program, advises graduate students in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and participates in Academic Senate committees.
