David Meske is an Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) Department at Palomar College. He joined the institution as a full-time faculty member in spring 2018, following three years as an adjunct professor. Prior to Palomar College, Meske served as Information Security Officer at Loyola Marymount University for over 12 years. He holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Bakersfield, and a Doctor of Public Administration from the University of La Verne. In his role at Palomar College, Meske has been instrumental in developing the Associate of Science degree in Cybersecurity, outlining a structured curriculum spanning four semesters and a summer session. The program includes foundational courses such as CSNT 110 Computer Hardware and Operating System Fundamentals, CSNT 111 Computer Network Fundamentals, and advanced cybersecurity-specific classes like CSNT 181 Computer Security/Hacker Prevention, CSNT 250 Cyber Defense and Analysis, CSNT 255 Ethical Hacker Principles, and CSNT 280 Computer Forensic Foundations.
Meske teaches a range of courses emphasizing practical skills in computer networks, security, and forensics, including CSNT 130 Linux Fundamentals, CSNT 181 Hacker Prevention/Security, and CSNT 280 Computer Forensic Fundamentals. He serves as faculty advisor for the Cybersecurity Student Club and actively coaches students for the National Cyber League (NCL) cybersecurity competitions, where Palomar College teams have achieved national rankings. His contributions extend to promoting hands-on experience in ethical hacking, network security, and cyber defense analysis, preparing students for careers in cybersecurity and transfer to four-year institutions.
