Dr. Denise Hope is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences within Griffith Health at Griffith University. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), Master of Medical Research (MMedRes), PhD, Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (GradCertHigherEd), Graduate Diploma in Humanities (Archaeology and Palaeoanthropology), Graduate Certificate in Arts, and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). As an experienced practising community pharmacist, she has built a distinguished career focused on advancing pharmacy education and practice. Her academic journey includes education from Monash University and doctoral research exploring key aspects of pharmacy.
Dr. Hope's research specializations include pharmacy education, pharmacy practice, medicines legislation, and women's reproductive health. Her scholarly contributions have garnered over 247 citations on ResearchGate across 72 publications. Key works include 'Are Australian pharmacists ready for increased non-prescription medicines reclassification?' published in the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice in 2020; 'Internet pharmacy: Online medicines: A growing problem' in Australian Pharmacist, 2020; 'Stability of paracetamol tablets repackaged in dose administration aids' in the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research, 2013; 'Australian pharmacy perspectives on increasing access to contraception' in the Journal of Health Services Research & Policy, 2019; 'Incorporating Vaccine Administration in Pharmacy Curriculum: Preparing Students for Emerging Roles,' 2014; and 'Optimising database searching in pharmacy education,' 2022. Recognized for teaching excellence, Dr. Hope received the 2020 Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning for the innovative PharmG gamified capstone simulation in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program, alongside the 2018 Vice Chancellor's Teaching Excellence Award for Innovation and a 2017 Group Learning and Teaching Citation, often in collaboration with Associate Professor Gary Grant. She teaches courses like Pharmacy Practice IV and contributes to patient-centred health services research.
