Dilshan Gunasoma, Lecturer (Curtin Colombo) at Curtin University, is based at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), contributing to the Global Curtin initiatives. His academic qualifications include a Master of Science by Research in Transportation Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. This degree underscores his strong foundation in engineering principles and quantitative analysis methods applicable to real-world infrastructure challenges.
At the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), a campus of the University of Moratuwa hosting Curtin Colombo programs, Gunasoma has served as Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics for more than four years. He instructs critical courses such as Calculus for Engineers, equipping students with the mathematical tools necessary for success in Curtin University's engineering and information technology degrees. His teaching supports foundational skills in calculus, statistics, and related areas essential for engineering disciplines.
Gunasoma's research specialization lies within transportation engineering, focusing on advanced decision-making frameworks for infrastructure sustainability. He has authored significant works, including the 2021 publication 'Application of Multicriteria Decision Making in Prioritization of Road Network For maintenance and Rehabilitation Works,' co-authored with H.R. Pasindu. This study introduces methodologies for prioritizing road maintenance using multicriteria decision making, aimed at provincial networks in Sri Lanka. Earlier contributions include 'Model Development for Optimization and Prioritization of Pavement Maintenance for Provincial Road Networks in Sri Lanka' from 2016. These publications, associated with the University of Moratuwa, have collectively garnered citations, demonstrating his contributions to civil and transportation engineering research.
Furthermore, Gunasoma extends his expertise beyond teaching and research by taking on leadership roles in educational outreach, such as Lead for Intern Inclusion at MyTurn, which connects internship seekers with providers in Sri Lanka's technical sectors. His multifaceted involvement highlights a commitment to education and professional development in science and engineering fields.
