About Ejaz Ullah

Professor Dr. Ejaz Ullah Cheema is a qualified pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) possessing over 20 years of academic and professional experience. He holds a PhD in Pharmacy Practice from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, a Masters in Pharmaceutical Services and Control from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom, and a BPharm. Dr. Cheema is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) awarded in recognition of his attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education. Currently, he serves as the Founding Dean of the School of Pharmacy since January 2021 and Vice Rector (Academics) at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) in Lahore, Pakistan. Prior to UMT, he was Program Director for the five-year MPharm program at the University of Birmingham from September 2018 to September 2021. He also holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for Currents in Pharmaceutical Research, a bi-annual journal published by UMT.

Dr. Cheema's research interests focus on pharmaceutical care, medicines adherence, drug safety, and pharmacovigilance. His scholarly contributions include high-impact publications such as 'Translation, cultural adaptation and validation of Patient Satisfaction with Pharmacist Services Questionnaire (PSPSQ) 2.0 into the Arabic language among people with diabetes' in PLOS ONE (2024, Impact Factor 3.700), 'Integration of pharmacist independent prescribers into general practice: a mixed-methods study of pharmacists’ and patients’ views' in Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice (2023, Impact Factor 4.200), 'Disparities in Prevalence and Barriers to Hypertension Control: A Systematic Review' in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (2022, Impact Factor 3.390), and several 2021 papers including 'Impact of community-pharmacist-led medication review programmes on patient outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials' in Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy (Impact Factor 3.300), 'Development and evaluation of clinical reasoning using ‘think aloud’ approach in pharmacy undergraduates–A mixed-methods study' in Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal (Impact Factor 4.500), and 'Efficacy and safety of delafloxacin, ceftaroline, ceftobiprole, and tigecycline for the empiric treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections: A network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials' also in Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal. Dr. Cheema has represented UMT at international events, including the first Asia-Middle East-Africa Conference on Academic and Research Integrity in 2023.
