Ellie Cutmore is the co-Head of Course for the Bachelor of Nursing (CL91) and Head of Course for the Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse Pathway) (CM77) in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences at CQUniversity. As a Registered Nurse, she possesses extensive clinical experience across acute medical and surgical settings in hospitals throughout southeast Queensland. Her career in nursing education includes roles as a Clinical Facilitator for undergraduate nursing programs, Casual Academic in the School of Nursing at Queensland University of Technology from 2010 to 2011, Sessional Academic in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine at the University of the Sunshine Coast from 2017 to 2019, and Casual Academic in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Sciences at Central Queensland University from 2014 to 2019. Cutmore's expertise lies in nursing education, clinical facilitation, assessment practices, and preparing healthcare students for safe, high-quality practice in diverse clinical environments.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Nursing from Queensland University of Technology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing Science (Clinical Teaching), a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and a Master of Health Science (Research) from Central Queensland University. For her master's research, supervised by Professor Amanda Henderson and Dr Pammie Ellem, she examined the effectiveness of an educational intervention to build mentorship capacity among care staff in residential aged care facilities and its impact on nursing students' perceptions of older adults and the aged care clinical learning environment. Currently, she is undertaking doctoral studies supervised by Associate Professor Barbra Zupan, Professor Amanda Henderson, and Dr Miriam Ham, exploring the development of pedagogical practice in novice nurse academics.
