Emanuel C. de Guzman, Ph.D., is the Vice President for Academic Affairs and a University Professor at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Manchester School of Social Sciences in 2008, a Master of Arts in Sociology from Ateneo de Manila University in 2001, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 1993.
Dr. de Guzman served as the 12th President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines from March 15, 2012, to March 17, 2020. Prior to the presidency, he was Chairperson of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Director of the Center for Human Development at PUP. He is a Ford Foundation International Fellow and completed a leadership course at the Ford Foundation International Institute for Leadership and Social Justice, University of Birmingham. He also attended a special training course on Sociological imagination at Coventry University, England. Dr. de Guzman is listed in the personnel of the Graduate School Research and Extension Office at PUP.
