Dr. Emily Corti is a lecturer and researcher in the Discipline of Psychology at Curtin University, Australia, within the School of Population Health. She is affiliated with the enAble Institute's Dementia & Ageing Team, where her expertise is listed as cognitive psychology, and contributes to the ParkC and Curtin Neuroscience Research Laboratory. Holding a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a PhD awarded in 2023, Dr. Corti focuses her research on cognitive processes in neurological disorders, brain stimulation techniques, and motor control. Her work employs neuropsychological assessments and non-invasive methods like transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to investigate impairments associated with conditions such as Parkinson's disease (PD) and chronic low back pain.
Dr. Corti's key publications demonstrate her impact in clinical neuroscience and psychology. In 2021, she co-authored 'Cognitive profile and mild cognitive impairment in people with Parkinson’s disease' in Parkinsonism & Related Disorders, which has received 59 citations and details cognitive profiles and mild cognitive impairment prevalence in PD patients. Another significant contribution is 'Motor cortex excitability in chronic low back pain' (2022, Clinical Neurophysiology, 18 citations), analyzing cortical excitability alterations in pain sufferers. Earlier work includes 'Factor Structure of the Ways of Coping Questionnaire in Parkinson’s Disease' (2018, Parkinson’s Disease, 21 citations) and studies on personality influences on memory reporting in PD. Recent preprints cover tDCS domain-specific effects on cognition and musical training's enhancement of sequence learning robustness. With 193 citations across 18 publications documented on ResearchGate and an active Google Scholar profile, her research advances understanding of brain-behaviour relationships in healthy communities and mental health. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Corti received the 2023 PWA Community Spirit Award. She lectures in psychology courses and continues investigations into brain stimulation and cognitive dysfunction.
