Emily Nicol serves as Associate Lecturer in Nursing within the School of Health at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing (BNursing) and a Graduate Certificate in Nursing (GradCertNursing), both obtained from UniSC. As a Registered Nurse, Emily brings extensive clinical experience from acute care settings, encompassing palliative care, medical, surgical, and emergency departments. She has specialized in Practice Education and has been committed to tertiary teaching at UniSC since 2020, with a passion for fostering positive teaching environments and creating opportunities for student growth. A proud UniSC alumna and former Headstart program participant, Emily exemplifies the university's commitment to accessible education, particularly for regional students.
Emily Nicol coordinates and teaches several core nursing courses, including NUR272 End of Life Care, NUR111 Practice Foundations, NUR121 Health Care and the Professions, NUR116 Preparation for Practice, and NUR200 Clinical Connections. Currently pursuing a Masters of Research, she maintains active professional membership with the Queensland Nurses and Midwives Union (QNMU). Her dedication to teaching excellence is recognized through her status as an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), awarded via AdvanceHE international fellowships. Based at the FC-FCA-1-1.31B office on the Fraser Coast campus, Emily contributes to the Nursing discipline led by Professor Stephen Neville, supporting the development of future nurses equipped for diverse healthcare challenges.
