Emma Ashcroft is a Lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. Ashcroft contributes to occupational therapy education and research through various academic activities. She co-authored the 2023 publication titled “Stop and just breathe for a minute”: perspectives of children on the Autism Spectrum and their caregivers on a Mindfulness Group in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, examining a group-based mindfulness intervention for children on the autism spectrum. She has delivered oral presentations at Occupational Therapy Australia conferences, including in 2025 on 'To pay or not to pay: The future of practice placements,' discussing ethics of unpaid student placements in occupational therapy education; another 2025 presentation with colleagues on self-compassion to support occupational participation; and 2019 presentations on improving communication skills among occupational therapy students and debating self-care, leisure, and productivity as categories of occupation. From 2016 to 2017, she participated in an innovative occupational therapy education model developed through a partnership between Curtin University and institutions in Vietnam. In 2015, she helped organize World Occupational Therapy Day events at Curtin University. She engages with the occupational therapy community via social media as an educator based in Perth.
