Rate My Professor Erin Goddard

Dr Erin Goddard is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Science at UNSW Sydney. She earned her PhD from the University of Sydney in 2011. Prior to joining UNSW in 2020, she held postdoctoral positions at the University of Sydney, Macquarie University and McGill University in Montréal, Canada. Her research focuses on understanding the human visual system and its interactions with related brain systems, including the influences of task, attention and memory on visual processes. She employs behavioural methods such as psychophysics as well as neuroimaging techniques including fMRI and MEG.

Dr Goddard currently holds an appointment in the UNSW Scientia Program and leads projects funded by the Australian Research Council, including an ARC Discovery Project (2022-2026) on brain system interactions and visual uncertainty and an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2020-2023) on neural dynamics of colour constancy and feature binding. She teaches courses including PSYC2071 Perception and Cognition, PSYC3361 Research Internship, PSYC3221 Vision and Brain and NEUR4411 Behavioural Perspectives in Neuroscience. Her work has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received media coverage in outlets such as The Sydney Morning Herald and New Scientist Magazine.
