Professor Esameldin Agamy serves as Chancellor of the University of Sharjah. He previously held the positions of Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation from 2022 to 2025, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs from 2020 to 2021, and Dean and Executive Director of Quality Assurance, Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation from 2003 to 2022. Professor Agamy holds a Ph.D. in Embryology from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom awarded in 1988, an M.Sc. in Embryology from Tanta University in Egypt, and a B.Sc. in Zoology from Tanta University. His research focuses on developmental biology and embryotoxicology, with particular interest in the effects of environmental pollutants and herbal compounds on embryonic development, as well as gene expression and histopathological analysis in animal models. He has received the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award from the University of Sharjah in 2008 and the Excellence in Community Service Award in 2009. Professor Agamy is a founding member of MENA AIR and a member of the British Society of Developmental Biology. With over four decades of academic and leadership experience, he has contributed to institutional development, academic quality assurance, and strategic planning in higher education across the region.
