Felecia F. Jordan Jackson is an Associate Professor in the College of Communication and Information at Florida State University, where she contributes extensively to teaching and research in communication studies. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts and Broadcasting from Georgia Southern College in 1985, Master of Arts in Communication Studies from West Virginia University in 1986, and Doctor of Education from West Virginia University in 1989. These credentials support her long-standing academic career at Florida State University, including roles such as key contact for the Master's in Media and Communication Studies program.
Dr. Jordan Jackson's research specializations include interpersonal communication, verbal aggression, interracial communication with a focus on trait-like cultural communication, perceptions and effects on relationship development, and communicating and coping with relational deterioration and loss. Her teaching interests center on interpersonal communication, interracial and intercultural communication, and nonverbal communication. Notable scholarly contributions include co-authoring the article 'A Communication Coding System for Use in High-Conflict Situations' published in Frontiers in Communication in 2022, which examines communication behaviors in defensive and supportive conflict contexts. She earned a Top Paper Award for her work 'A Worldview on Race and Gender.' In 2017, her students nominated her for the Transformation through Teaching award, recognizing her classroom impact. Dr. Jordan Jackson has also served on numerous graduate thesis and dissertation committees, mentoring students in communication and related disciplines at Florida State University.
