Fiona Wiggins is a Lecturer in Nursing in the School of Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of New England. An experienced nursing professional, she holds the qualifications of Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Nursing (BN), and Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing. With over 35 years of clinical practice in a rural healthcare setting, Fiona brings substantial real-world expertise to her teaching. She has spent the past eight years as a nurse lecturer at the University of New England, instructing students in both online and on-campus environments across undergraduate nursing programs.
Fiona Wiggins teaches a wide range of nursing disciplines from first-year to third-year levels, delivering both clinical and non-clinical units. Her contributions to the nursing curriculum include foundational nursing practice, clinical skills, professional communication, evidence-based care, and person-centred nursing. She coordinates HSNS295 Professional Nursing Practice 5: Integrated Nursing Practice and HSNS170 Foundations of Safety and Quality in Nursing. Passionate about student success, Fiona supports learners at all stages to foster competence, confidence, and readiness for clinical practice. She maintains her clinical engagement to keep skills current with healthcare advances and assists graduate nurses transitioning to professional practice.
