Dr. Florence Mwagwabi is a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology within the School of Information Technology, part of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Murdoch University. She holds the positions of Discipline Lead and Academic Chair for Transnational Education in Information Technology at the Murdoch University Singapore campus. Florence began her association with Murdoch University as a sessional lecturer at the Perth campus in 2010, continuing this role while completing her PhD. In June 2015, she joined the Singapore campus, bringing extensive work experience in information technology and teaching expertise in courses such as Information Security Management, Introduction to Information Technology, Data Communications and Networking, and Systems Analysis.
Florence Mwagwabi's research specializations include business intelligence, cybersecurity, human factors in information technology, business information systems, sustainability in information systems, and data analysis. Her work delves into cross-cultural research in information systems security, AI in cybersecurity, user security practices and compliance, usability in security, end-user security, information security compliance issues, password authentication systems, and the semantics of user-generated passwords. She has led and contributed to significant projects, such as investigating sustainability awareness and practices among IT professionals in Australia, and serving as a co-investigator in efforts to green the fastest-growing industry through sustainable system development lifecycles. Florence supervises Doctor of Information Technology candidates and has presented on related topics.
