Gabriela Lopes da Cruz is a PhD visiting scholar at the University of Auckland in the School of Population Health, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. She is a PhD candidate in Public Health Nutrition at the School of Public Health, University of São Paulo, Brazil, and is affiliated with the Center for Epidemiological Research in Nutrition and Health (NUPENS) at the Faculdade de Saúde Pública, Universidade de São Paulo.
Her research focuses on nutritional epidemiology, including the consumption of ultra-processed foods, dietary fiber intake, the Nova food classification system applied to household food purchases in New Zealand, and the nutritional, sustainable, and affordable aspects of the traditional Brazilian diet such as rice and beans. She has contributed to publications on these topics, including work on ultra-processed foods and wholegrains in New Zealand.
