Gay Dungey, MEd, BSc, DipThRad, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Radiation Therapy at the University of Otago, Wellington, within the Faculty of Health Professional Programmes in the Health Sciences Division. She has been employed by the university since 2001, serving initially as a Lecturer from September 2001 to February 2016 before her promotion to Senior Lecturer. In her academic role, Dungey teaches radiation therapy and oncology, treatment planning concepts, and contributes to other papers in the undergraduate Bachelor of Radiation Therapy programme. Her career is marked by a commitment to advancing education and professional development in radiation therapy.
Dungey's research specializations center on psycho-oncology and developmental educational psychology, particularly examining the well-being, stress management, and job satisfaction of oncology healthcare workers and radiation therapy students in New Zealand.
